ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

JCF is proud to announce 24 more individuals are trained and prepared to assist individuals in need who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide. ASIST is a highly interactive two-day workshop designed to help participants learn by practicing (through large and small group role-play) the knowledge acquired through lecture and discussion presentations, as well as videos, regarding intervening with a person at risk of suicide. ASIST is listed in the Suicide Prevention Resource Center’s (SPRC) and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Best Practices Registry.

ASIST Class – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

26 individuals from Lafayette and the surrounding area spent 2 full days learning more about the tragic epidemic of suicide and the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills needed to be able to better intervene with a friend, loved one or even a stranger that may be having thoughts of suicide. We thank each of these 26 individuals for their care and concern and appreciate their taking the time to learn these important life skills.

Sugarman Triathlon

The inaugural Sugarman will take place in the beautiful setting of Sugar Mill Pond. The public may sign up to participate in the triathlon, but there will activities for the entire family all day long. Great food, drinks, live music and fun activities for everyone, so even if you are not a triathlete you can come out and enjoy a great day benefitting a wonderful cause.

Brush With Hope - September 12, Gallery 549 during Artwalk
21 local artists from the Lafayette area donated original artwork in various mediums to be displayed during the Second Saturday Artwalk and to be available for purchase to the public. Proceeds from the sale of the artwork was donated to JCF in support of our mission to provide suicide prevention and awareness through educational programs. We thank Chris & Don Leblanc with Gallery 549, Cece Neustrom & Kim Neustrom for their creativity in designing such a unique and wonderful event and we thank the artists for their support and generosity in participating in Brush With Hope! Over $2500 were raised to continue our mission.
